Thoughtful Valentines Gift Ideas for Your Man

I’m currently curled up in my bed, cowering from the snow storm outside. We’re supposed to get 6-10 inches tonight. Blech. Oh February, you are the worst – with no end to winter in sight. At least you’ve got Valentine’s Day going for you. So, I’m thinking happy thoughts of pretty, bright pink and red things and wondering what I should do for My Man this year to celebrate.

I’ve done the traditional gifts – cologne, watch, boxers, love coupons and more and am running low on ideas. But for this Valentine’s Day I’d like to get something that is a little more thoughtful and a little less materialistic/commercial. Here are a few of my ideas. I’d love to hear yours!

Personalized Baby Gift: Birth Subway Art

A couple of months ago, our friends welcomed their first little bundle of baby cuteness into their lives. These are our friends whose wedding is where I met Michael, and they are our first friends to have a baby. I was so excited for them! I got them some things off of their registry for their shower, but I wanted to have something special to give them when we finally got to meet the little guy. I love the birth subway art idea and I think it’s a good keepsake as well as great way to remember all the little details. So I decided to make one on my own. I knew they were decorating the nursery with sports stuff and their basic color scheme, so that was my starting off point. And here is the finished piece! I’ve blocked out their last name for privacy.

I had my friend text me all the info for a surprise, so she sent me the weight, length and time of Cooper’s birth.

I found some cute fonts that had the baseball, football and basketballs as well as some varsity letter and kid-like fonts. I thought it turned out pretty well and I had fun making it. I hope they liked it too!

This design along with some other baby subway art is now available in my Etsy shop. Click here to see the listing!

The Elegant Country Bridal Shower

Hello and welcome to my recap of the Elegant Country Bridal Shower! I feel a little sheepish posting this recap several months after the fact. Sorry! Better late than never right? Well here it goes! My best friend’s bridal shower was super cute and I hope she thought so too! The bride-to-be helped us pick out a fun theme: elegant country. We used lots of ideas from Pinterest and lots of burlap and here’s how it turned out.

Here’s our cupcake table. In the frame is the couple’s engagement story – the setting was a romantic campfire complete with s’mores!

To go along with the s’mores story, the bride’s sister (the MOH) made these yummy s’more cupcakes and we put in the cupcake toppers I made for them.

I spruced up a little mason jar to hold the cute pink-and-white-striped drinking straws.

I saw this sign idea on Pinterest and thought it was a cute addition. A doily scallop punch for the bottom helped tie it into our theme.

The tables – complete with the burlap table runners I made. The MOH made the mason jars with burlap and lace embellishments. Aren’t they pretty?

Here’s a close up of the lace mason jars.

Another view of the tables.

We realized after the fact that we didn’t get any good pics of the bride and her bridesmaids! Fail.

We also played some fun games that the MOH put together. We played the Newlywed game and guessed how many questions the bride and groom got right. We also wrote date ideas on popsicle sticks for a date jar. And bridal shower bingo was a good way to keep people occupied and interested while the bride opened presents.

If you’ve never played, it’s basically a bingo card that has pictures or words of things that were on the bride’s registry, like cookware or a utensil. So when the bride opens a piece of cookware, you get to put your marker on that spot. Then once you get bingo, you yell “Bride.” It’s cute.

We had a lot of fun celebrating the bride-to-be! Operation elegant country bridal shower = success.

IW: 12 Last Minute Easter Gift Ideas

Hello friends and Happy Inspiration Wednesday! Last week I shared some sweet Easter treats and this week, I’m sharing some cute packaging ideas that would make for an extra special Easter gift.

A fun idea for your girlfriends that isn’t candy – Nail polish to match an easter egg.

from The Idea Room

Extreme cookie packaging using scrapbook supplies.

Fun springy package for someone who likes to bake.

Reuse frappe bottles for a dressed up candy package.

Egg cartons that hold Reese’s Eggs – cute idea for teachers, neighbors or anyone.

Little eos lipbalms look just like eggs. I especially like the little tag that says “Somebunny thinks you’re egg-stra special.”

I never thought about decorating an egg carton, but these are too cute.

Cotton candy makes a cute bunny cottontail.

I am in love with the farmer’s market berry baskets that are out right now. It make’s a great little Easter basket!

More little cottontails.

I’m not much of a Peeps person, but these Spring s’more packages are a fun idea.

I saved the cutest for last. Mini Easter cupcakes in colored egg cartons.

Happy early Easter!
