I’m currently curled up in my bed, cowering from the snow storm outside. We’re supposed to get 6-10 inches tonight. Blech. Oh February, you are the worst – with no end to winter in sight. At least you’ve got Valentine’s Day going for you. So, I’m thinking happy thoughts of pretty, bright pink and red things and wondering what I should do for My Man this year to celebrate.
I’ve done the traditional gifts – cologne, watch, boxers, love coupons and more and am running low on ideas. But for this Valentine’s Day I’d like to get something that is a little more thoughtful and a little less materialistic/commercial. Here are a few of my ideas. I’d love to hear yours!
A Year of Dates
My Man is so good about planning great dates for me, but I’m not so good at planning for him, so he usually gets the burden of planning all to himself. I thought a Year of Dates, catered to things he likes would be a great idea. You plan out (and prepay where possible) a date for every month and wrap up each date in it’s own little package or envelope complete with the details. Here are some of my date ideas:
- An afternoon at the ballpark
- A date at the driving range
- Brewery Tour
- Drive In Movie Date
- Picnic in the Park
- Board Game Night at home
- …I need some help thinking of more ideas! Anyone?
Breakfast on the Go
Package up a breakfast for him to grab on his way out the door. I love these ones with the cheesy messages.
February is a very stressful month for My Man because he is in busy season at work and works long hours and on the weekend, so I thought a couples massage would be a good treat and way to de-stress for him (and bonus, I get a massage too!).
His Favorite Dinner
This one’s easy. Fix his favorite manly meal. Usually I don’t cook something that one of us doesn’t like, but as a special treat I’m thinking of making something just for him. And of course you’ve got to get out the cute outfit and apron for the occasion. 🙂
Message in the Mirror
I did this last year by writing a message in lipstick on the mirror for him to see when he woke up. You could also write little love notes on heart shaped paper and stick them in places for him to find all day.
I don’t think you can go wrong with a bouquet of beer. I know My Man would love to come home to this bouquet.
Things I love About Him
I’ve seen the 52 Reasons Why I Love You or 52 Things I Love About You, but I also like the favorite memories idea too.
Similarly, you could write things you love about your man on each piece of candy.
Favorite Things Package
Last, but not least, package up several smaller things into a ‘favorite things’ package or a ‘love bucket’. I like tying it together with the saying here “You are My favorite thing, so here are some of your favorite things.” You can make this as expensive or inexpensive as you want and really put anything in it. Some ideas of things to include:
- Favorite candy
- Favorite ice cream
- Favorite magazine
- Favorite dips and snacks
- Tickets to see his favorite team play
- CD of his favorite band/artist
- Favorite hair products
- This list could go on and on…
So what are some of your gift ideas for your man this Valentine’s Day?
