Hi friends! Hope you had a fantastic weekend. Other than a holiday party for work this weekend, I did lots of much-needed lazing around the house. But, I did manage to make some Christmas-y chocolate covered oreo pops that I’m going to share with you today! Back when I first heard about Oreo pops I was skeptical since I’m a strictly milk-dipping oreo kind of person, but these are really good! They are rich, so make sure you have a glass of milk handy to wash them down! Here’s the finished product and below are directions and tips to make your own!
You will need:
- A package of double stuff oreos (Must be double stuff!)
- Almond bark or candy melts in desired color (You will need 1.5 bags of candy melts for 1pkg of Oreos)
- Pop sticks
- Small bowl, crock pot, or double broiler (to melt chocolate)
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Small treat bags (optional if you want to package them)
- Ribbon (optional)
Step 1: Start Melting Chocolate
Step 2: Untwist oreos while chocolate is melting. Try to get the filling to come off evenly on one side.
Step 3: Dip the end of the pop stick into the melted chocolate about a 1/2 of an inch.
Step 4: Place chocolate-dipped pop stick into the oreo cookie filling and press down.
Step 5: Immediately place the other side of the cookie on top and press them together firmly (but don’t break the cookies!). Make sure there is enough chocolate to adhere to both sides of the oreo.
Step 6: Let the cookies sit for about 10 minutes to setup.
Step 7: Dip oreo into chocolate until covered and then tap off excess. I use a spoon to help make sure the whole cookie is covered.
It should look something like this.
*Optional Step: If you want to use sprinkles like I did, pour sprinkles onto a plate and lay the freshly-dipped oreo pop on the layer of sprinkles. (I recommend only putting sprinkles on one side or else they get too heavy and start falling apart.) Remove and place sprinkled side up on wax paper.
Step 8: Place on wax paper and let set up for about 30 minutes. Then decorate as desired.
And here they are all wrapped and ready for gifts!
For the packaging I used clear small wilton treat bags and ribbon.
